One of my favorite part of having houseplants is styling them with a cute planter or macrame hanger. But aside from decor, there are some things that are very useful to have at home for your plants.

I’ve compiled a list of items that make both me and my plants happy from cute pots to helpful moister sensors. I hope you can find some useful items from this list!

I love anything that makes taking care of my plants easier, and in turn will likely make me a better plant mom!

  • Grow Light

Depending on where you live, these might be very helpful. For those of us that live in areas that experience all four seasons, we know that winters, and even fall and spring can be very gloomy.

Grow lights are a great way to insure that your plants are getting adequate light, especially during winter, or even if you just want to have plants in areas of your home that maybe have north facing windows and don’t receive any direct sunlight.

  • Shelving

Shelves are a great way to display your plants! I especially love wall shelving for smaller plants. I love the way trailing leaves look along the wall. Find a shelf you love and start displaying those plants!

  • Plant Hangers

Another great way to display your plants. Again, trailing plants are my favorite! And I love having my plants dispersed around my home. Here is a really cute macrame hanger that I love!

  • Watering Can

Very necessary, of course! I don’t think any particular watering can is essential, as long as it gets the job done. Although a galvanized can may not be best for smaller plants as they could cause some spill or overflow. This simple watering can is great with a removable nozzle, perfect for small and large planter pots.

  • Squeeze Bottle

I recently purchased one of these and I love it for my hanging plants! This makes it so much easier to water those harder to reach plants. I’d either have to take the plant down or grab a stool to reach them with the watering can before. Now I can just water them easily with the squeeze bottle without taking them down.

  • Plastic Container

This may seem quite random and unnecessary, and if you already have a container at home to spare, go ahead and use that! Or even use your bathtub if you don’t mind your plants in it.

A large plastic container can be used for bottom watering, if you choose to do so on occasion. The great thing about bottom watering is that your plant’s soil will soak up as much water as it needs.

Or you can just place your plants in the plastic container and water as usual and let them drain in the container if you don’t have a tray underneath already.

A smaller plastic container can come in handy if say, you have a hanging plant with no tray underneath but don’t want water dripping to the ground underneath the plant. This can catch that extra water without a mess.

  • Humidifier

Some plants, especially tropical plants thrive in humid conditions! If you live somewhere that experiences all four seasons, your home may be on the drier side. A humidifier is a great option for consistent humidity for your plants.

  • Mister

A mister is also a good option to provide more humidity to your plants. Not quite as consistent as a humidifier, but it gets the job done! The aesthetic glass spray bottles are cute, I have one and it gets the job done and adds to my decor, but the continuous spray bottle is ideal when you have numerous plants and don’t want to keep pressing how on the sprayer.

  • Trellis

Some plants, like Monsteras, thrive when provided with a trellis to grow on. Not only will this provide an adequate growing habitat for a Monstera to be happy, it will then produce larger leaves.

You can even encourage your Pothos to grow on a trellis! It will grow larger leaves this way as well. Moss poles are great for Monsteras as they have just one stem to attach to the pole. A metal trellis may work better for trailing plants like a Pothos with many vines.

Monsteras in the wild prefer to have something to climb as it grows, like up a tree! You might see a massive Monstera if you visit Southern Mexico!

  • Plant Stands

A nice plant stand can really elevate your plant game! This may allow your plant to be closer to a window and get more sun, but I also love a plant stand to just add a little extra oomph to your plants allure.

Tiered plant stand look great for displaying multiple plants, but I also love these single adjustable plant stands to give a plant some height and they look great!

  • Wall Clips

If you have a trailing plant that has gotten pretty big, you might consider using climbing wall clips! If you love the greenhouse, jungle vibe then you would probably love having your plants climbing up the walls! You can use these to clip your plants long vines to climb all over the wall.

These little green plant clips are perfect for trailing your vining plant all over your walls!

  • Potters

You might decide to go with the classic terra cotta clay pot that gets the job done. Or if you’re like me you want all the fun potters in a the different colors and designs. I always have so much fun picking out pots for my new plants!

  • Wall Pots

Like I said before, I love having plants alllll over my apartment. Wall planters bring a really fun vibe to the home, especially with trailing plants.

One of my favorite wall planters is the WallyGrow that comes in a variety of colors. You can hang it directly on the wall, and it comes with its own hook, that the pot hooks securely onto. And what’s really cool about this plant is that there is a separate channel in the back for watering. This allows the water to hit the roots directly at the bottom of the soil. And the other plus is that it is eco friendly, made from recycled plastic!

  • Soil Moisture Meter

Another great tool is a moisture meter! This moisture meter measures moisture, pH level, and light level!

This is a great tool if you’re unsure when your plants need to be watered or if they’re receiving enough light!
